Artist Statement

My love of and appreciation for the effect of light in our environment and how it predicts the beginning and ending of the day and the changes in the weather has always had a large influence on my photography.

Light can be awe inspiring or frightening, illuminating or shadowy, enervating or soporific. It can play tricks on one or one can play tricks with it. Mist rising from a river or coming across a field in the early morning; thunder heads darkening the sky as one tries to get the last load of hay into the barn; sun glistening off ice or snow on fields, fences and streams; early morning dew catching spider webs; the brilliant colors of a sunset after a storm; back lit grasses, the bark of trees and the petals of translucent flowers; all these are mystical.
