Artist Statement

I am drawn to strong, quiet segments of our human landscape. Sharp shadows, simple reflections and inviting paths entice me toward a place beyond knowing. A sense of the unexpected and the unexplained lurk within.

Unclear spaces are as important as the identifiable objects, for it is there that the questions arise. An image is not about the place where I am alone with the camera, though that is the body of each picture. Instead, for me, the essence and soul of the photograph is an evocation of my encounters with the power of light and promise, and the concomitant shades of darkness.
