Artist Statement

Narrative is not usually part of my work, so I set out one afternoon to photograph a story. I had in the back of my mind darkly humourous tales, by the likes of Edward Gorey.

In the process, I was caught up in the story, making off-kilter shots to create a feeling of unease, yet placing them on richly hand-painted background photographs, like the autumn backdrop of that afternoon.

My resulting photographs are a short story about a walk through the woods.
