Artist’s Statement My work is informed by the parable of the cave and the endless exploration of what is hidden and revealed by light and shadow. While landscapes influence my esthetic, finding abstractions in nature and juxtaposing natural and artificial objects in landscapes and still life arrangements fuel my imagination. The world is filled with objects bound by cultural, political and esthetic values that I revel in displacing gently. Seed pods and a saguaro boot are empty shells that become mysterious forms when cupped by the fading daylight. A paper wasp’s nest invites the imagination - what or who else might occupy the spaces left behind? |
