Homáge a Paris

When I come upon a subject that moves me enough to make a picture, it’s because the interplay of activity, light and shadows, and the patterns in the landscape, are for me, just perfect. My favorite time of day is late afternoon. It is then the quality of the light envelops the landscape in a soft caress.

Street photography can provide the same spontaneity as landscape work. I like to show people in their everyday activities using natural lighting, and without artifice or management. The twelve photographs in the series, Homage a Paris, I believe reflects this feeling.

When all the elements of the photograph come together to touch me, and I hope, the viewer, this what excites me about making pictures.
