Artist Statement Over the past thirty years I have shot thousands of picture: of people and landscapes and travels and things. Its been a fun but unfocused photography career. I havent used my darkroom for over three years: I dont own a digital camera but love my ancient manual Canons. Somehow I have always returned to objects in my own personal environment, those I have chosen and are part of my life. The
eagle is my political statement: hes proud but stuffed. The owl
is Cuban, and the Buddhas are from Thailand. Everything else is part of
my household jumble representing my small personal scene as opposed to
the huge world outside my home. Here
I feel secure: its unlikely terrorists will interrupt the disorganization.
Due to the present state of our country and the world I feel somehow flattened,
two dimensional, which makes most photographs seem irrelevant. |
