Biography

Rachel Garber started studying photography in 1992. As an educator she wanted to use the medium in her work with young people. She felt that photography was the perfect way to help children connect with their neighborhoods, gain confidence, and discover new parts of themselves. Rachel has taught photography in Philadelphia, Boston, and Vermont.

In addition to Photography Atelier, she has studied at the New England School of Photography in Boston, Art Institute of Philadelphia, and with Amy Arbus at the Maine Photographic Workshops. Rachel currently works at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, running the COACH (College Opportunity and Career Help) Program. COACH takes Harvard students out into the Boston Public Schools to help high school students explore educational opportunities and pursue their interests.
