The
Past in the Mirror As I get older and my sense of self and self-importance fades, I photograph the people and the paintings I love, as if I can keep them alive forever. These photographs juxtapose contemporary subjects with painted portraits of past generations to explore the complex nature of portraiture where time stops forever. Through this dual subject I ask the viewer to make comparisons between the past and the present, youth and aging; in these pictures the dead are alive forever, and living are older than their ancestors. |
